Tokyo year-end 2026: Jump Festa, Comiket and New Year lucky bags
Late December and New Year are the busiest weeks for anime and electronics shopping in Tokyo. Here are the dates, how to get in, and what to expect.

Key facts
- Jump Festa 202719–20 December 2026, Makuhari Messe. Free, but you must apply in advance.
- Comiket C10929–31 December 2026, Tokyo Big Sight. Entry ticket or wristband required.

Jump Festa 2027 (19–20 December)
- Where: Makuhari Messe, International Exhibition Halls 1–9 and 11, in Chiba, east of Tokyo.
- Hours: 9:00–17:00, last entry 16:30.
- Entry: free, but by advance application only. Install the Jump NAVI app and register. Everyone of elementary-school age or older needs an e-ticket in the app.
- Shopping: buying at the official JF shop needs an extra in-app lottery, open only to ticket holders.
- Titles: 34 Shōnen Jump series on stage, including One Piece, Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Comiket C109 (29–31 December)
- Where: Tokyo Big Sight. East Halls 4–6 are closed for renovation this time.
- Hours: fan circles 10:30–16:00. Company booths (West 3–4, South 3–4) until 17:00, 16:00 on 31 December.
- Entry: an entry ticket or wristband is required. Types and prices were due to be announced in late October to early November 2026.
- Plan: each day has different genres. Check the web catalogue and pick your day.
New Year lucky bags (from 1 January)
- Yodobashi Camera sells its “Dream New Year box” in store from 1 January at stores such as Multimedia Akiba. One per person, no returns, and numbered tickets may be handed out.
- 2026 examples: iPad box ¥40,000, PlayStation 5 box ¥60,000, Master Grade Gunpla box ¥25,000.
- Many other stores sell lucky bags too, and some take online lotteries in November and December that need a Japanese account.
Tips for visitors
- Go early and expect long queues on 1 January in Akihabara and Shinjuku.
- Lucky bags are sealed. You will not know exactly what is inside, and they cannot be returned.
- Tax-free now works as a refund at departure, so keep each receipt with its items.
